Laurie Forestry manages all land preparation work no matter what the size or location of the project.
The business recommends using land preparation that has the lowest possible environmental impact. As a general rule, we do not support the burning of weeds or forest residues.
Laurie Forestry engages in one or more of the following processes for land preparation:
- Clearing by wind rowing with excavators:
This method of land preparation ensures the most likely survival and growth opportunities for a new tree crop. While also reducing planting costs and fire risk. - Clearing forest harvest debris for replanting:
Clearing as little as required to minimise soil disturbance, this helps reduce future weed growth. - Aerial Spraying::
Weed aerial sprays (when used safely), are ideal solutions for weed control.
- Grazing with Stock:
This ensures sites are cleared enough to allow for spot spraying to control weeds and grasses. - Grazing with stock:

Our purpose-built wing tyned ripper is available for hire and can be fixed behind a 120-plus horsepower tractor.

All Laurie Forestry planting operations are followed by a survival count and report early in the year following planting. We guarantee available tree stock to ensure any blanking will go ahead to ensure the successful establishment of your forest. - Protection
We ensure stock, pests, and vermin numbers are reduced until the trees are well established.
